Algo-Trading Strategy for Intraweek Foreign Exchange ...

Crosspost: My first trading bot, now 4 months in development, started trading live last week and already gained 10%!

Backtest screenshot:

Here's my original post:
https://www.reddit.com/algotrading/comments/hd7e6c/my_first_algo_trading_bot_in_python_is_getting/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Since then we've grown to a team of five people.
We started trading live last week with a $100 test account on Binance Futures and gained 10% in our first week!
Some amazing updates in the works: we are building this bot to connect to multiple exchanges via websocket in order to execute commands as fast as possible, and control them all through one web interface.
This is a high velocity leveraged trading bot that uses 50x leverage and risks 5% of the wallet per trade. Soon we will implement dynamic leverage and position sizes based on key risk factors, like trading during range highs and lows.
Beyond that, we also want to add different crypto markets, and maybe even forex eventually.
Our very next target is Digitex Futures, the first totally commission free zero fee crypto exchange! We think this will be a game changer as fees make a huge impact on profitability.
The current backtest, which is returning 900x over a 1 year 7 month period (with 100% of profits compounded) is viewable at cryptoravager dot com. I still need help to add Sharpe, equity, & drawdown indicators to the chart. Anyone have experience with the tradingview library?
Please give me any feedback or advice! I'm one of those developers turned algo traders. I have 20 years experience in web application development, and only 1 year in trading and markets. Back in January I paid a pro trader good money to learn the strategy my bot is now using, which I used successfully by hand in March / April. That personal history plus the stellar backtest is what spurred us on to reach this point today.

e-Forex Magazine | Machine learning stirs up competition in FX Algo Trading

e-Forex Magazine | Machine learning stirs up competition in FX Algo TradingIvy Schmerken Though capital markets firms have been adopting artificial intelligence and machine learning to train algorithms for equity trading, recently this trend has expanded to foreign exchange. Ivy Schmerken, Editorial Director at Flextrade Systems, has written widely about this topic and we asked her to revisit it for e-Forex. By crunching vast quantities of data by computer, machine learning algorithms can identify hidden patterns in past data and learn to forecast stock market returns or FX currency pairs. Large banks have been investing millions into advanced technologies such as AI and machine learning to capture a bigger share of the algo trading market.
JP Morgan developed a new algorithm dubbed DNA – or Deep Neural Network for Algo Execution to merge what a multitude of algos do into a single strategy, allowing the framework to decide how a client’s order should be executed, reported Reuters .....

Arbitrage, HFT, Quant and Other Automatic Trading Strategies in FX | Finance Magnates

fintech #trading #algotrading #quantitative #quant

Challenges when implementing quant strategies in FX Lack of data availability in foreign exchange trading, when compared to equities, is one of the major obstacles in implementing quant strategies in FX. Since the Forex market is regarded as an over-the-counter (OTC) market and does not transact on a centralized exchange, there is little uniform data available. The FX ECNs only publish approximately 15% of their data while the rest of the market trades “in the dark”.
Only an estimated 6% of the market is covered by good quality data, and algos need to have data, such as volume traded per unit of time, in order to properly slice a large order into smaller pieces. Also, many traders underestimate the cost for quality data. You can get some of the historical tick by tick data dating back to 1992, but it will cost you tens of thousands of dollars. How to implement auto trading strategies on margin FX brokers’ platforms? So is it possible to implement alpha generation algorithms with .....

Market Sniper Buy / Sell - algorithm Trading

https://www.tradingview.com/script/skKXLsnt-Market-Sniper-Buy-Sell/
Hello everyone,
After the amazing feedback on Market Sniper (THANK YOU!) V. alpha, I am more than motivated to finish my final release! It will be invite-only.
But I did get one type of criticism: "It'S tOo CoMpLiCaTeD To UsE. tHiS dOeSn'T hElP mE" Well, I am thankful for those inputs, but my opinion is that some people were searching for a magic pill. So I created one, overnight! And guess what? This script is as simple as it gets: I took the algorithm I am working on and simply used additions and subtractions of the algos signals,(Yes, I took the reversals signals and +bullish-bearish over Fibonacci periods. NOT HARD! and yes, I wanted to prove a point XD )
What's best, I don't need to guarantee you it doesn't reprint, that is profitable and demand 30-300$ a month for a heinkin-ashi BS script that actually doesn't work, like most people here, (Many people used it, giving a lot of feedback in discord, reddit and TV. not a single reprint). I am giving you a chance to see that for yourself over the next month!
Now, this script will be temporarily up and I will afterwards release my Invite-Only strategy that I have prepared with 80%+ profitable trades, 1%+ profit per trade, <0.35% drawback on every single asset I tested (still need to test FOREX extensively).
Now, with that out of the way, let's get into the technicals:
This is a script contains:
First, I need to point out I spent 3H fine-tuning this script for 15min binance - BTC Perpetual Contracts(it simply gives of the most frequent and best signals on my algo out of all exchanges). I firstly tried to find settings that worked on everything on my watchlist, and I did, combining solely the first 2 Momentum fields (I have 50+ cryptos and some traditional markets on this watchlist). The Algo works best on Heinkin-Ashi (extensively tested it without a single reprint on my algo, it smooths out the oscilators I use for it and increases the success rate). I use SuperTrend as the basis, there shouldn't be any reprints. BUT! since most scam scripts use heinkin-ashi as a way to mask their real backtest (and try to convince you it actually has 90%+ Wr) I will never release any of my work based on those kinds of candles.
How to use You can base your trading of the 15min Binance chart. if not, follow these steps:
Please, let us all know when you find great setting! Grab da profitz
REMEMBER! FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT!

Overview of Algorithmic Trading Strategies

Strategies are a natural way to get the maximum benefit out of algorithmic Trading. Based on the duration of holding the investment, Algo Trading Strategies are classified as Long term and short-term strategies. Automated TradingTrading has been enhanced with specific rule-based decision making.
Long Term Strategies
  1. Pricing Strategies are more focused on the expected returns
  2. Mathematical model-based Strategies are developed purely based on mathematical calculations, models.
  3. Trend Based Strategies follow market trends. By using the statistics, patterns are studied, and further strategies are developed.
  4. Arbitrage strategies use algorithms to figure out price differences and trade according to opportunities for profit.
  5. VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price) & strategies, break the large volume of stock into smaller and later issues them according to market conditions to earn more yield.
  6. Implementation shortfall strategy uses algorithms to target involvement in dealing when stock prices are high and vice versa.
Short-Term Strategies
Short term strategies are generally executed in Intraday Trading strategies, where assets are bought and sold on the same day. Here stocks are not purchased for investment purpose but to earn the profit by connecting with the stock market trend. Algo trading strategies are incorporated in Intraday Trading to reap more benefits. Following are the Intraday trading strategies using algorithmic TradingTrading:
  1. Reversal trading strategies use algorithms to find out the highest and lowest points of the day. Based on these points as the secure time, price and quantity start reversing; it gives alerts to either buy or sell the assets.
  2. Trend based strategies analyse the trends using Algorithms, and further strategy is developed.
  3. Bull flag trading strategy based on the highest peak and steady decrease in trend during the day. To get the target prices on the patterns of bull flag shape, algorithms are used. Based on these trends, ' strategies are developed.
  4. Pullback Trading Strategy develops the low-risk buying opportunity.
  5. Breakout trading strategy enables us to enter the market when prices change outside a specific range.
3 Efficient Intraday Trading Strategies Used in Algorithmic Trading
Algo trading is an automated practical approach to TradingTrading. Strategies make the trading process very fast and much more result-oriented. The trades can be executed to the point of specified price and volume in minimal time. It reduces the losses due to the time lag between the sale and purchase of securities.
When the algo trading is used with specific intraday trading strategies, it works amazingly well.
Here are a few back-tested strategies used by successful traders as a part of Algo trading. These strategies can undoubtedly lead to maximize profits with the correct execution.
1. Momentum and Trend Based Strategy:
It is the most commonly used and most straightforward strategy. There are no complex interpretations or predictions to be made. It is the momentum and trend-based strategy. You need to follow the trends, and the energy in the market and the trades will be executed accordingly. Trade will be based on technical indicators - the moving averages, the price level movements, channel breakouts, etc. If a set of conditions is fulfilled, then automated trading is generated.
2. Arbitrage Strategy:
When there is a difference in the cost of the securities on different stock exchanges, Arbitrage profits take place. The algorithm identifies the price difference immediately using the computers and executes a trade to enable buying on the low-priced exchange and sell on the high-priced exchange. Although the cost difference is not too much, here, we can compare the speed and accuracy of Algo trading and manual TradingTrading.
This strategy is mostly applicable to forex trading. Once the trade gets executed, arbitrage profits will be credited to the trader.
3. Weighted Average Price Strategy:
This is also one of the most popular and efficient strategies. The objective of this strategy is to quick-execute the order to the volume-weighted average price or the time-weighted average price. The orders are executed in small parts. The order is based at either volume-weighted average price or the time-weighted average price in specific opening price in defined time slots.
The algorithms are successful in releasing the orders in small parts with efficiency and accuracy in nanoseconds, which may not be possible by human traders.
To know more strategies, refer to our Algorithmic Trading Strategies - Part 1.

For those of you interested in the algo trading bot I posted a couple weeks ago, I will be releasing a market watcher only version of it (beta) for free

Hi guys, I know a lot of people expressed interest in the algo trading bot I posted about a few weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/passive_income/comments/c8ocr5/after_months_of_tweaking_ive_finally_got_my_algo/

I thought about it, and I finally figured out how to release it publicly without it impacting my trading.
For the public version, I'm going to strip out the live trading functionality, and have it be a market-watcher only system. Essentially, you'll be able to configure specific strategies, and have it notify you when that strategy has a buy/sell signal emerge (so you'd have to do the trade manually)

You'll be able to run a backtest on any particular planned trading pair (eg USD-TSLA, BTC-ZEC, CAD-GBP), which will output a CSV sheet with backtested data against every possible strategy ordered by profitability.

You'll then be able to create market watchers (what I dub 'Tipsters', essentially live paper-traders) with the following settings:

These tipsters will then watch the market live, and simulate trading/keep track of simulated profitability.
App will have the following features:

There's a couple other 'surprises' I plan on having in the app too, but I'll keep those a secret for now (mostly hilarious stuff, but may wind up being useful).

So the question is, would you make use of something like this? Would you find it useful?

How do I sell successful trading algo?

For the past 4 years I've been working on crypto currency algo trading software bot. With skill and luck I profited handsomely netting multiple millions USD in the bank at this point. Around this time a year ago on good days the strategy was making tens of thousands of dollars. Nowadays as the trading slowed down significantly, but its still making couple thousands per month, sometimes more. During the past 4 years I only had a few negative months (mostly due to bugs in the software). The more volatility there is the more money the strategy is making. For example during the recent drop of price from $6k to current level of $3k the profits were almost $10K.

Currently I'm considering my options. Being a bit tired of this business and I'm contemplating moving on to something else. At the same time I could take it to a new level and build a company around this business.

The software I developed is quite solid. I'm pretty confident that it can be applied to any kind of market - forex, equities, options, futures. There is a lot of upside in it, even in the crypto markets. I'm only trading the most busy markets/currency pairs (I'm a one man army so I focused only on what's feasible for a single mind to handle). I made some initial backtesting and there is scaling potential to hundreds of crypto currency pairs across multiple exchanges.

That being said how can I find market for my business/sofware? Who might be interested to buy it? How do I price it?

Edit: The main reason I'm looking to exit is that I'm tired of it. There are lots of aspects of this job. I constantly have to monitor the software for errors. Exchange sometimes change APIs without notice, network configurations and certificates change, AWS instances go corrupt. I'm running my own hardware, and couple of months ago one of the hard drives dies and I had to re-seed everything. It took over a week to get things back in shape. This is the non-sexy part of this job. There is a lot of moving part and upkeep. By starting a fund and hiring people I could delegate all this, but I feel more like taking painting classes rather than building a company. But like I said, I feel like there is a lot of upside.

Turing Technology completes second funding round

Turing Technology, developer of financial and market analysis software for traders and financial institutions, has completed a second round of funding with investment backing from FPF Capital, a venture capital fund.
“Turing Technology is a unique proposition for investors because its fintech solutions combine the best of business, technology and scientific excellence. Turing’s team brings artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, linguistics and big data analysis expertise to provide real-world trading solutions across all markets including cryptocurrencies, commodities and forex,” says Filip Korbel, Turing Technology CEO.
Earlier this year, Turing Technology developed CryptoMood, an AI market data analysis tool for cryptocurrency traders.
CryptoMood provides cryptocurrency market data and sentiment analysis by monitoring social media and over 50,000 news sources, and by tracking digital currency whale wallet movements in real time.
The solution is set to become commercially available during Q3 of 2019, both as a mobile application for retail traders and as a business interface for cryptocurrency exchanges and brokerages.
The new investment will enable Turing Technology to develop new projects and trading tools, including: Algo Studio, a platform that creates trading algorithms for commodity and foreign exchange markets; and MT Pro, a software that provides advanced statistics functionality to help traders create sound trading strategies.
As well as developing new solutions, Turing Technology is also expanding its global presence. It recently opened a new office in Prague and has a new Dublin office planned for Q4 of 2019.

Forex Sentiment Data Overview, it's Application in Algo trading, and Free Sample Data

From Commitment of Traders (COT) to the Daily Sentiment Index (DSI), to the Put/Call ratio and more, sentiment data has long been highly sought after by both professional and retail traders in the mission to get an edge in the market. Equity and futures traders can access this market data relatively easily due to the centralization of the market they are trading.

But what about Forex traders? There is no single centralized exchange for the Foreign Exchange market therefore sentiment data is difficult to obtain and can be extremely pricey for Forex traders. Furthermore, if a trader had access to such data, the sample set may be limited and not closely reflect the actual market.

In order for Forex sentiment data to be valuable, the data must be derived from a large, far reaching sample of Forex traders. FXCM boasts important Forex trading volumes and a significant trader sample and the broker’s large sample size is one of the most representative samples of the entire retail Forex market. Therefore, the data can be used to help predict movement of the rate of an instrument in the overall market.

This sentiment data shows the retail trader positioning and is derived from the buyer-to-seller ratio among retail FXCM traders. At a glance, you can see historical and current trader positioning in the market. A positive ratio indicates there are more traders that are long for every trader that is short. A negative ratio is indicative of a higher number of traders that are short for every long trader. For example, a ratio of 2.5 would mean that there are 2.5 traders that are long for every short trader and -2.5 would mean just the opposite.

When it comes to algo trading, sentiment can be used as a contrarian indicator to help predict potential moves and locate trading opportunities. When there is an extreme ratio or net volume reading, the majority of traders are either long or short a specific instrument. It is expected that the traders who are currently in these positions will eventually close out therefore bring the ratio back to neutral. Consequently, there tends to be a sharp price movement or a reversal.

When extremes like this are present in the market, a mean reversion automated strategy can be implemented to take advantage of the moves in the market that are expected to ensue. If sentiment is skewed very high or very low, price is moving away from the mean. However, over time it is expected to regress back to the mean resulting in a more neutral reading. Neutral would be considered a number close to 1.0 or -1.0. It is recommended that a confirmation indicator or two be coded into the mean reversion strategy as well.

Free one-month sample of the historical Sentiment Data can be accessed by pasting this link in your browser https://sampledata.fxcorporate.com/sentiment/{instrument}.csv.gz and changing the {instrument}: to the pair or CFD you would like to download data for. For example, for USD/JPY data download you would use this link: https://sampledata.fxcorporate.com/sentiment/USDJPY.csv.gz.
When the file downloads, it will be a GNU zip compressed file so you will need to use a decompression utility to open it. To open the file with 7zip, open the downloads folder, click on your file, and click ‘copy path’. Then open 7Zip and paste your clipboard into the address bar and click enter. Then click the ‘extract’ button. This will open a window where you can designate a destination to copy your new csv file. Click OK, and navigate back to your file explorer to see your csv file.
You can find more details about the sentiment data by checking out FXCM’s Github page: https://github.com/fxcm/MarketData/tree/masteSentiment
